*** Update 26th May *** I’ve started to take parcels to the post office again rather than have every order collected from home so the postage rates on the website have now been lowered. Delivery timescales are still longer than they would normally be, please do check before you order if your order is for a special date. Most of my suppliers are open and operating but with reduced warehouse staff so it is taking longer than normal to get items back into stock and hand made toys are still available but everyone is working from home with children so again, please be patient if things aren’t reaching you as quickly as they would pre covid. Thank you so much to you all for your orders and support. It means the world to me xx keep safe and well xx
These are such worrying times. I hope that you and your families are keeping safe and well and managing to find some good in each day whilst we are confined to our homes.
I wanted to let you know that for the time being Tinker Tray Play is open as usual and orders are welcome. There are no issues with any of my suppliers, they are all open and dispatching items quickly so direct delivery items are unaffected at present and I am able to receive new stock.
I usually do a post office run every other day and a courier drop off daily. In light of the recommendations for social distancing I have decided to change this. I have increased my postage charge by 60p which is the amount my courier charges for home collection of parcels. This is to keep myself and my family safe and to follow the government guidelines about stopping all unnecessary travel and interactions. It is a temporary measure and postage will go back to normal when we are free to leave our homes again.
If the government do enforce a total lock down I may have to change this but until we get there I will continue to provide the best service I possibly can to get toys and resources out to you whilst we all are having to home school.
At present, Royal Mail and Couriers remain open and are delivering both UK and international parcels. They have some helpful advice on their website should you wish to have a read:
Public Health England (PHE) has advised that people receiving parcels are not at risk of contracting the coronavirus. They say from experience with other coronaviruses, that this type of virus doesn’t survive long on objects, such as letters or parcels. This complements the highly publicised guidance from PHE for people to wash their hands more often than usual using soap and hot water.
I, as are many of you, am facing the prospect of working from home with a 2 year old and a 4 year old to entertain. As well as managing a toy shop, I also work as a Project Planner three days a week which I now have to do from home around my family.
I want to reassure you that I will continue to do my best to provide you with your orders but also ask that you please be understanding if parcels aren’t sent out as quickly as they would be during normal times.
If you are struggling during this time of self-isolation, then join our Facebook chat group Tinker Tray Playtime for support and play at home ideas. Everyone is welcome. Let’s support each other as much as we can through these difficult times.
Keep safe xx
